Active with the TGDP: Summer 2017
BA in Linguistics and German (double major) (University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee)
During Melanie’s time with the TGDP, she was under the direction of Damir Cavar at the University of Indiana, Bloomington. She was first interested in learning German because of the strong German influence in Wisconsin, and from attending Milwaukee’s annual German Fest. In her free time, Melanie enjoys playing the piano, baking, and visiting museums.
Directly after her summer internship with TGDP, Melanie was a undergraduate research assistant at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, where she worked with Dr. Garry Davis on a project about the dialect spoken in Wermelskirchen, Germany. Since then, she has changed career paths and is currently enrolled in a Masters in Library Science program.
