Ryan’s interest in the Texas-Germans is rooted in language politics and their implications which, in this case, resulted in the gradual extinction of a vital part of the culture’s identity: its language. In addition to his academic pursuits, he also enjoys cooking, rooting succulents, the Recycling Task Force, and painting.
Ryan has worked as a an International Parliamentary Scholar (internship in the German parliament); a freelance English instructor, translator, editor; a staff member of Member of Parliament; and Project Consultat at Visa Express Service. Since 2013, Ryan has been working as a project manager and international officer for Tafel Deutschland e.V., a national association of German food banks and pantries.
