PhD in Linguistics (phonetics and linguistic theory) (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign), BA in German Language and Literature (Jawaharlal Nehru Vishvavidyalaya, New Delhi, India)
Indranil’s research focuses on acoustic phonetics, phonology, speech technology and historical linguistics. While working with the TGDP, he investigated the phonetic basis of substrate effects in Texas German. After his time with the TGDP, Indranil was a Lecturer at Rice University, and then an Assistant Professor at the English and Foreign Languages University in India. As of 2020, he is a Professor of Linguistics at Jadavpur University.
