Active with the TGDP: Spring 2023
Atalia was a PhD student at the Department of Anthropology at UT Austin. Connecting queer and animal studies, she examines what kinds of bodily labor are enacted in the work of utopia – specifically the kinds of queer fantasies that allow for animal labor. Her fieldwork is situated in kibbutzim in Israel/Palestine (where she is from) and in the outskirts of Berlin – which is how she got into studying German. Atalia has previously engaged with trans* temporality, queer kinships, cisgender identities and pinkwashing. She is excited to practice her German with the TGDP, as well as being exposed to the fascinating migratory history of Texas German communities.
