Her academic interests include second language acquisition, frame semantics and foreign language pedagogy. Her dissertation dealt with culturally specific aspects in semantic frames. When she was a teacher in the Germanic Studies department, she always developed new and engaging classroom materials, including developing several activities introducing students to Texas German. In her free time, Annika enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her dogs. As of 2019, she is the Senior Director of Learning and Change at Thrive Pet Healthcare.
